Zebrafish as a model organism for visual behavioral screening has appeared to be a starting point for the development of promising human ophthalmological treatments. 

The assessment of zebrafish visual performance should leave no room for guesswork as it is the first step to discovering strategies that zebrafish use to regenerate a damaged retina such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, etc. Reflex visual function can also be assessed to study the relation prey-predator, shoals, conspecific recognition, shape, color cues.
